“WMS might be a mature solution, but in the cloud, it can bring new functionality to operations,” says Kail Plankey, a partner at St. Onge. “It’s also a better financial fit for most. In general, it brings a higher tier of functionality for a lower upfront cost. Even over time, cloud WMS offers cost savings including your IT department.”
The shift from on-premise WMS has and is opening up new possibilities for managing not just inventory and its movement, but the materials handling equipment doing the movement.
