We are excited to announce that Sean Steiner has joined St. Onge Company’s healthcare practice as a Senior Project Manager in vertical transportation. He will primarily be responsible for managing and leading vertical transportation projects as well as working with David Smith, Senior Project Manager, and Ryan Mair, Director-Healthcare Services.
Sean comes to St. Onge Company with more than 23 years of experience in the elevator industry and more than 19 years as an Elevator Consultant. He has extensive experience working for Schindler and as a consultant in NYC. In NYC, Sean attained his Certified Elevator Inspectors License. His first client was the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where he worked on mass transit-related projects in northern New Jersey and New York City, including the devastated World Trade Center site to restore a temporary PATH train station with elevators and escalators. Other notable clients included Long Island Railroad, Massachusetts Bay Area Transportation, Metropolitan Transportation Authority, New Jersey Transit, New York City Transit, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, Grand Central Terminal, Newark Liberty International Airport, Los Angeles World Airports, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, and many other projects across the U.S. and Canada.
For over 16 years, he oversaw the design and engineering of vertical transportation assignments in the U.S. and Canada. This included developing standards for elevator and escalator designs; providing solutions for upgrading existing installations; conducting in-depth safety inspections; working with architects, engineers, and designers to interpret official building codes; and facilitating layout development of vertical transportation systems.
Sean holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stockton University in Applied Physics with concentrations in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics. He also has a Physical Science Energy Certification in Alternative Energy Resourcing from Stockton University and a Time Management and Organizational Skills Certification from Rockhurst University. He is an active member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, a member of the American Society of Engineers A17.7 New Technology Code Committee for Elevators and Escalators, and a contributing member to the American Public Transportation Association Heavy Duty Design Guidelines for Elevators and Escalators. He is a registered Third-Party Elevator Inspector in both Florida and Pennsylvania.
“We are excited to welcome Sean and his depth of engineering expertise to the team. This capability, along with our engineered approach and simulation modeling, will further advance our focus to become the specialist in healthcare vertical transportation.”

About St. Onge Company
Founded in 1983, St. Onge Company is now in its 37th year as a leading independent supply chain engineering company. During that time, we have gradually expanded to a staff of over 140 highly capable and professional employees, the majority of whom are degreed engineers. Performing some 5,000 assignments for over 1,000 clients worldwide, including many Fortune 500 companies and several world-renowned institutions, we have developed a range of service offerings that include planning, engineering, specification development, and implementation management in support of industrial, commercial, and institutional clients. From our inception, St. Onge Company has aspired to serve our clients’ best interests by creating highly effective, data-driven solutions that exceed expectations. Our independence allows us to be totally focused on developing innovative solutions for our clients without bias to specific equipment or vendors.
Our design process is marked by mastering our clients’ operations and needs. We achieve this through vertical transportation analysis utilizing specific benchmarks based on the number of in-patient beds and material cart movements. A VT questionnaire is issued to the design team requesting data pertaining to shift changes, in-patient bed sizes, etc. This data forms the basis of models and simulations used to develop a thorough understanding of our client’s day-to-day activity from an efficiency perspective. We find that this immersion in the client’s needs strengthens our relationship with the client and provides a solid foundation for developing creative and innovative solutions.
Our Facility Planning and Design team uses data-driven tools to design world-class vertical transportation systems. Specific St. Onge Company vertical transportation services include:
